Position Description

This position is a Contract Specialist located in the NAVSUP WSS N94 Contracting Department. Contract Specialists within the N94 Nuclear Reactor Supply Chain Management Directorate provide critical support to the Naval Reactor Program (NRP).

Position Duties/Responsibilities

The employee performs work involving the evaluation of contract price proposals, negotiating, administering, and/or terminating contracts for the acquisition/repair of supplies. The employee may also occasionally be assigned to act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to review or advise other individuals responsible for policy development and/or dissemination how certain policies relate to work processes or to identify potential workload impacts.

The employee, in an entry-level/developmental capacity, will work under close supervision until all facets of the
position are learned. Employee performs more complicated routine assignments under the close supervision of the supervisor or Senior Procurement Analyst/Contract Specialist.

At the full performance level, the employee exercises decision-making powers on contracting matters, displaying good
business acumen consistent with the organization’s strategic goals. Provides assistance to Weapon System Team counterparts in the development of Statements of Work and quality assurance criteria. Resolves problems inherent in the contracting and teaming processes and provides training to junior team members. Updates and coordinates with the Team Leader and supervisor on important Weapons System Team issues, providing frequent updates to the Team Leader, and works independently with little oversight or guidance.
