Position Description

This position is located in the NA VSUP Fleet Logistics Center San Diego (FLCSD), Industrial Support Department, Advanced Traceability and Control (ATAC) Division. The division is charged with "F" condition Repairable support functions and responsibilities for all West Coast and Pacific Fleet and shore-based customers, this also includes all Repair and Return (R&R), Ready For Issue (RFI), and Redistribution Orders (RDO) that fall under the purview of the Performance Work Statement. ATAC San Diego serves as the initial point of contact for worldwide fleet (air/surface/subsurface) and shore customers for "F" Condition Depot Level Repairable (DLR) material turn-in requirements. The division in the San Diego area is the focal point for the Defective Material Assistance Team (DMAT) program for entry and control of regular and specialized material demands placed on FLCSD. The primary purpose of this position is to perform technical screening for a wide range of Depot Level Repairable material (DLR's), i.e. shipboard, squadrons, ground support and avionics equipment and to perform data processing for the disposition of the material through eRMS, producing stock receipts, transshipments and disposal actions, as well as establishment of Master Stock Item Records (MSIR). 

Position Duties/Responsibilities

Based on the duties and factors of this position, which calls for the incumbent to perform mixed duties consisting of material examiner and identifying, warehousing, packing and crating and operating a forklift. The duties of Materials Examiner and Identifier are considered primary as the incumbent performs technical screening for a wide range of Depot Level Repairable (DLR) materials, packing and crating, warehousing tasks and forklift operation in connection with unloading, loading, stacking and movement of Depot Level repairable (DLR) shipments. Receives repairable materials/equipment from fleet units and reviews documentation for items being received to assure correct item identification, quantity, and condition, and report significant discrepancies to higher graded workers for resolution. Reviews manifests and shipping documentation for proper turn-in information such as, Document Identifier, National Stock Number (NSN), Cognizance Symbol (COG), Part Number, Condition Code, and Document Number (Fund Code, Management Code, Security Code) and other pertinent data. Because work appropriate to the Materials Examiner and Identifier occupation is more important than Packer and Forklift Operator duties in terms of these factors, Materials Examiner and Identifier is selected as the appropriate occupational code with the title supplemented by parenthetical titles to recognize the additional skill requirements of Forklift Operator  (FLO).
