TEXTILE TECHNOLOGIST

You will serve as a Textile Technologist in the Uniform and Certification Group of NAVY EXCHANGE SERVICE COMMAND.

You will apply knowledge of clothing and footwear design and fabrication, fabrics and materials, production methodology, and anthropometric criteria in order to develop clothing, clothing accessory, and equipment designs.
You will explore, evaluate, and determine the applicability of various fabrics and design concepts.
You will recommend and justify the need for new projects or changing directions in ongoing projects.
You will review or evaluate new technologies to improve the performance and functionality of Navy uniforms and protective clothing.
You will conduct focus groups and other discussions with users, combat developers, program managers, and other project personnel in order to clearly understand performance requirements.
You will oversee the work of assistants and coordinate the efforts of design and test/evaluation teams in carrying out design projects.
