This position is located in the Naval Supply Systems Command (NA VSUP) Fleet Logistics Center Norfolk (FLC-N) Regional Fuel Branch. The Branch is responsible for the receipt, issue, storage and transfer of all liquid fuels, (liquid/gaseous oxygen and liquid/gaseous nitrogen) required to support two to four Carrier Air Groups, station and visiting aircraft, and station maintenance. The incumbent works at the Oceana Branch which is comprised of three (3) areas; the Bulk Storage Compound, the Ready Service Tanks (Day Tanks), and the Oxygen/Nitrogen Facility. Instructs, provides guidance, and works with military personnel who are assigned to the Oceana Branch of the Regional Fuel Department, on a rotating basis.
Position Duties/Responsibilities
- You will operate high pressure fuel systems by use of remote control switches and valves, portable and stationary pumps and accessory equipment to load, unload, and transfer petroleum products.
- You will monitor tank levels, filter differentials and pipeline pressure during fuel receipts and transfers, and take corrective action if problems occur.
- You will take all level temperature readings of liquid fuels in bulk tanks.
- You will operate mobile equipment such as tank trucks, semi-trailers, forklifts, pick-ups and panel trucks as required.
