Position Description

This position is located in Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP), Business Systems Center (BSC), Logistics Solutions Department. The Logistics Solutions Department's mission is to deliver information technology (IT) and information management solutions with emphasis on logistics, supply chain and financial related IT products and services for the Department of Navy, Department of Defense, other Federal agencies and international customers. The incumbent serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), senior software engineer, senior developer, technical architect and lead with expertise in several technologies, platforms, environments and modern software engineering practices involving one or more major business areas of highly complex and integrated business systems for the enterprise.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

The incumbent will act as SME, senior software Engineer and technical architect, leading software implementation, modernization and innovation efforts at the organization level. The incumbent is responsible for a wide range of complex Information Technology (IT) duties involving but not limited to full software development lifecycle of Web, UNIX or Windows or z/OS based applications, Software modernization efforts, Cloud based technologies, low code/ code platforms, Microservices, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), development, security and operations (DevSecOps), Automation and special projects. The incumbent is responsible for the design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, implementation and support of new or existing applications software. By their nature, these projects will require significant IT design, modification and/or unique maintenance of one or multiple IT applications and systems. The incumbent will contribute significantly to the strategic goals of organization and will lead the efforts enabling organization achieve Business Agility. The incumbent acts as a management official by working as a lead technical SME and architect directing, leading and coordinating the efforts of a team of IT Specialists, contractors and other partners charged with the top-to-bottom management of corporate information systems which execute the mission of NAVSUP customer activities.
