Position Description

You will serve as a Packer in the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Support Division, of the Aviation Logistics Department, of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR PUGET SOUND.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for all plant, installation, and aviation squadron packing, crating, and shipping of assets stored at NAS Whidbey Island.
  • You will select containers, protective devices, cushioning, methods and techniques needed for packing while taking note of factors such as size, type, weight, fragility and mode of shipment.
  • You will prepare and process all documents including special handling labels, shipping codes and required safety data.
  • You will prepare and pack all hazardous items in accordance with Department of Transportation Regulations and compile with Hazardous Packing and Shipping Manual to properly pack, mark, label and certify hazardous material.
  • You will perform mathematical calculations and computations of cubic measurements and use measuring and weighing instruments.
  • You will operate metal strapping machines, power hand tools, overhead hoists, package sealers, electric pallet movers, forklift trucks and ability to obtain Material Handling Equipment license with rated capacity up to 20,000 LB.
  • You will have the ability to obtain certification in the Wood Packaging Material program.
